Family Matters WA | Private Mediation Services
Following separation, clients often find themselves facing a legal system which seems daunting, and may feel unprepared for what lies ahead of them. Family Matters WA was established to provide an affordable and user friendly family mediation service that provides you with legal information, and guides you towards resolving the practical matters that arise from separation.
The principal mediator at Family Matters WA, Monica O’Brien, is formally accredited as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP) by the Attorney General’s department. Additionally, Monica brings a range of skills and experience to working with you, including:
- qualified as a lawyer and has worked in a range of areas, including family law.
- trained as a Child Consultant to work with children and young people on separation and to bring them into the mediation process where appropriate.
- Monica also does sessional work for Legal Aid WA as Chairperson of Family Dispute Resolution Conferences.
- training in therapies which support working with separated families, including Solutions Focused Brief Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
- Monica has over 20 years experience working in conflict resolution and mediation, and brings understanding and empathy to every client.
